Zee SaReGaMaPa Li’l Champs’ Tanmay Chaturvedi, 11, and Aamir Hafeez, 10, are on cloud nine. After all, it’s not everyday that you get to sing for an Amitabh Bachchan film.

The children have recorded songs for Ravi Chopra’s upcoming film, Bhootnath, starring Bachchan and Juhi Chawla, and guest starring Shah Rukh Khan. Vishal-Shekhar have scored the music.

“After hearing Tanmay and Aamir on Zee TV, Vishal and Shekhar (who appeared on the show as the guest of honour) were very impressed, and wanted them to sing in Bhootnath,” a source from SaReGaMaPa Li’l Champs tells us. “When they approached Ravi Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan about this, the idea was welcomed.”

Aamir and Tanmay were auditioned, and selected.

“Vishal and Shekar liked our performances,” Tanmay, who hails from Lucknow, says. “I sang solo. The recording took two hours. Visual-Shekar helped us during the rehearsals. Sunidhi Chauhan was also there. If I had known earlier, I would have taken an autograph book with me.”

Aamir HafeezAamir finished his recording in an hour because he does not sing a solo, like Tanmay. “I sing a duet with Amitabh. But he had already finished his recording and left the studio by the time I reached,” Aamir, who hails from Bhopal, says.

However, the boys don’t have to worry about meeting their idol. Amitabh plans on having a special screening of the film for them.

Do studies take a beating because of singing? “I was never interested in studies,” Aamir answers. “My mother does not force me to study now. So I’m very happy that I’m in Li’l Champs.”

Bhootnath is a children’s film, where Amitabh plays a ghost.

Saturday’s episode had Superstar-supermom-superhot Karisma Kapoor as the celebrity judge and you can imagine the excitement among the L’il Champ contestants, audience and resident judges! Host Aditya and the contestants opened the episode in style singing famous Lolo hits.

The theme for this episode was “Christmas Eve” and all the participants were dressed as cute L’il Santas, who kept on giving Lolo surprise gifts during the show! Guess what naughty li’l Vibhor did? He went down on one knee and told Lolo he loved her! Aaj kal ke bachche! Lolo was flattered and she sportingly replied, “I love you, too!” Guess that made Vibhor’s day.

Lolo totally enjoyed the masti-filled evening with performances of popular hit songs like Chali Chali, Rafta Rafta Ho Gaya and Mind Blowing Mahiya. She also took the stage herself and danced to her hits Poocho Zara Poocho and Tan Tana Tan Tan Tan Tara.

8 December 2007 (Sawf News) – Aamir Khan appeared as a celebrity guest on Zee SaReGaMaPA L’il Champs 2007, Saturday, December 08 to promote his new children oriented film Taare Zameen Par.

The ever-elusive Aamir Khan who refuses to grace even the biggest award functions of the film fraternity delighted his fans recently when he descended on the sets of Zee’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs. The actor was there to promote his new movie Taare Zameen Par which revolves around children, and L’il Champs, the biggest talent hunt show for young kids proved to be the ideal platform. In true-blue Aamir style, the perfectionist arrived for the shoot a good twenty minutes ahead of time.

The show opened with a medley of Amir’s song where all the Lil Champs were dressed like the Lagaan team, and finally sang the title track of Taare Zameen Par along with Amir and Darsheel (the child actor in the movie). Quite contrary to his otherwise serious image, Aamir was sporting enough to break into the ‘Aati Kya Khandala’ gig with li’l Vasundhara .Touched by the impressive performances of his own songs by the little ones, Aamir was full of praise and encouragement for them.
